Eastbourne Named Best UK Resort Finalist

Eastbourne has been nominated as a finalist in the ‘Best UK Resort' category at the prestigious Group Leisure Industry Awards 2007.

 

Held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on 20 September, the awards are voted for by tour operators and group travel organisers, with the top four most popular destinations reaching the final.  As a regular nominee, Eastbourne has reached the final seven times over the last decade, winning on three occasions.

 

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "Being named as one of the UK's top four destinations is a great accolade for Eastbourne.  Not only does it show the high satisfaction levels amongst group organisers and tour operators, but it shows their customers are pleased with their holiday when they come to Eastbourne."

 

The awards are being held during this week's International Group Leisure & Travel show in Birmingham. 

 

The nominations recognise assistance to tour operators and group organisers in providing excellent facilities for large groups, assistance in accommodation booking and up to date information and advice.  It also recognises positive feedback which tour operators receive from their customers enjoying their holiday packages to Eastbourne.

 

Earlier this year Eastbourne was announced as the UK's most requested destination of 2007 by Co-op Travel, also reaching the final of the 2007 Group Travel Awards and is the proud holder of the Blue Flag, the ultimate accolade in clean beaches.
