Mayor Congratulates Newly Promoted Eastbourne Borough
15th September 2008

This Thursday the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Greg Szanto will host a reception for Eastbourne Borough FC to congratulate the club on their achievements this year and for gaining promotion to the Blue Square Premier. The 2-0 victory achieved over Hampton and Richmond at the Blue Square South play-off in May means that Eastbourne Borough FC are looking forward to competing against teams from all over the country, including Oxford United, Weymouth and York City.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "The recent achievements for Eastbourne Borough FC are fantastic news for Eastbourne as a town and resort, as it means we will be seeing hundreds more people into the town from all over the UK. Travelling supporters will be coming into the town to watch matches at Priory Lane and we are very excited to be working alongside the club to build on and promote the team's success and make the most of this new market of day visitors into Eastbourne. Playing against teams from across the country also means that plenty of people will be talking about the town this year!"
The promotion into the Blue Square Premier means that Eastbourne Borough FC are guaranteed at least two televised matches each year and the first live game is just a month away.
Eastbourne is looking forward to welcoming Setanta Sports to the town on Sunday 12 October as they host Stevenage at Priory Lane. With only international games being played that weekend, it means that Eastbourne Borough versus Stevenage will be the only national football match on television attracting a huge audience of footy fans.
The Mayor's Reception for Eastbourne Borough FC takes place on Thursday 18 September at 6pm in the Mayor's Parlour, Town Hall.
Tickets to watch Eastbourne Borough FC play at Priory Lane are available from the gate on the day and will soon be available to buy in advance online through VisitEastbourne.com.
