Eastbourne Flies High With Blue Flag

18 May 2007
Eastbourne seafront is top notch according to Blue Flag organisers Encams, who have awarded the resort the prestigious flag for the fourth year in a row.
The award indicates that Eastbourne meets stringent EU water quality directives and offers safe bathing and excellent facilities. It follows the resorts two Quality Coast beach awards announced last month.
Eastbourne Borough Council Director of Economy, Tourism & Environment, Norman Kinnish said “This is great news and just in time as we prepare for a record season. After our new sun lounger beaches, kids deckchairs and double deckers proved a big hit last year with families visiting the resort, we’ve got even more on order this year, including a new range of beach huts.”
Also new for 2007, two brand new seafront Dotto Trains will be providing services along the seafront and a new seafront restaurant opens on the lower promenade with al fresco dining and beach decking. For those looking to cook their own food, new beach barbecue areas have also been allocated after last year saw record numbers at the beach.
The seafront Bandstand is also prepared for the year ahead with an extra six weeks of concerts after last years audiences proved busier than ever. The programme includes the return of the popular 1812 Fireworks, Rock n Roll and Tribute Nights including tributes to Kylie, Take That and Shirley Bassey.
With children’s theme parks, new pedaloes at Princes Park and a Carousel operating throughout the summer, Eastbourne seafront is a hive of activity, and even more so during the events season. From the biggest FREE seafront airshow in the World to Extreme Sports with power boating, skating and top windsurfers competing offshore, there is something for everyone and it’s all FREE.
