Plenty of Reasons why you Wannabe at the Bandstand this Week
5 August 2008
Eastbourne Bandstand is set for a pop takeover this week as a tribute to the world's biggest ever girl group guarantees audiences on their feet to the sounds of Ginger, Scary, Posh, Sporty and Baby.
Wannabe, a Spice Girls tribute act, will make their debut at Eastbourne's iconic Bandstand this Friday and take audiences back to the 90's as they perform the five piece's greatest hits including Say You'll be There, Two Become One, Mama and Viva Forever. With several of the popular Friday Night Tributes selling out, Bandstand and Spice Girl fans are being encouraged to book their tickets early for an evening of Spice Fever.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "This Friday will see a great pop Tribute at the Bandstand and I'm sure the concert will be very popular attracting the whole family. The Friday Night Tribute format is one of the Bandstand's most popular evenings and the real variety of concerts throughout the summer means there is something for everyone and helps the historic venue attract new audiences too."
Eastbourne skies will dazzle on Wednesday as the season of 1812 firework concerts continue. This week, the music comes from the Central Band of the Royal British Legion before the evening culminates in a spectacular firework display to Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture.
The Hustlers provide a night of Rock n Roll on Saturday, while Sunday at the Bandstand hosts a double dose of traditional and Proms concerts, courtesy of Wealden Brass and East Sussex Concert Band.
Plus there are also performances from Concentus Chorale on Tuesday evening adding a choral flavour, Big Band night on Thursday reliving hits from this memorable era, and a relaxing Saturday Afternoon on Broadway with Sussex Brass Band.
Tickets for Friday Night Tributes are now available in advance online from VisitEastbourne.com, as well as from the Tourist Information Centre. Fans can make the most of booking early, with a £1 saving off on the door prices.
