Bandstand Anticipating Record Audiences

6 June 2007

The summer season at Eastbourne’s Bandstand is off to a flying start with the opening tribute band, ABBA Forever, selling a over 600 tickets, more than double the amount of the opening act last year despite starting two weeks earlier.

The UK’s premiere seafront bandstand, not only an iconic symbol for the town today, is home to a lively entertainment programme of music and fireworks, from tribute bands to big bands throughout the year for the local community and visitors to Eastbourne alike.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism & Environment, Councillor Steve Wallis said “The Bandstand makes for a unique live music venue and is an increasingly popular attraction in the town receiving a huge level of public interest. Each week the Bandstand hosts a mix of concerts for all musical tastes so there really is something for everyone.  It is also fantastic to see how popular the tribute nights have become.”

With forthcoming tribute nights from some of the most famous names in the music industry including Kylie, Take That, The Beatles, Queen and with ABBA Forever returning on 3 August, the Bandstand is set to see record audiences this summer.

Also regularly featuring afternoon concert bands, 1812 Firework Concerts on Wednesday’s, Big Band night on Thursday’s and Rock N Roll night on Saturday’s, the Bandstand provides a weekly musical melody to accommodate all ears.

The tribute nights which are organised by Eastbourne Borough Council will be running every Friday from 1 June with doors opening from 7pm and concert start at 8pm with advance tickets £5.50 or £6.50 on the door – book early to avoid disappointment.
